Our story starts with a struggle.
The idea for Mela Mela was born while Mike, one of our co-founders, dedicated thousands of hours in the classroom. As a young, forward-thinking educator, he always looked to ways technology could support his classroom and students’ learning. He experienced first-hand how much time and mental energy was spent working on administrative tasks related to lesson planning, staff scheduling, and IEP paperwork. Continually discouraged by the inefficiencies in special education and found himself working long hours to satisfy the demands of his role.
His story is not unique. Teachers across the nation are operating in day-to-day burnout. We envision another way. Mela Mela emerged from Mike's experiences, long-form conversations with fellow educators, and a commitment to ensue that those who dedicate themselves to this vital work can continue to make a positive impact without sacrificing their mental health and well-being.
